It’s impossible to truly foresee the outcome of our actions. Even with the best of intentions, things can go terribly wrong. We may try to apologize or laugh it off, but some consequences are unavoidable.
For my birthday, my husband gave me a bottle of shower gel. I was deeply hurt, though I hid my reaction. We were financially comfortable, and I knew his business was doing well. There was no reason he couldn’t have bought me even a simple bouquet of flowers. To make it worse, the scent was one he knew I couldn't stand.
Frustrated and upset, I ended up crying and pouring the entire bottle down the toilet. Later, my husband came home beaming and asked, "Did you find it?” My heart sank. He had hidden my engagement ring inside the bottle's cap, planning a surprise. In the end, the surprise was on him, as he had to retrieve the ring from the toilet himself.
