Police Officer Spots Drowning Animal In Canal, And Makes A Split-Second Decision

A dog, who was about to drown after falling down in the water of a canal in Florida behind the home of his owner, was saved by a bystander and a police officer.

Officers Allyson Steinkamp and Sara Gianino went to save the dog, Sarge, in a neighborhood in Lighthouse Point, according to the Lighthouse Point Police Department. The owner of the dog, Alex Griffin, said that his dog wasn't able to get out of the canal himself, despite being a good swimmer.

A passing boater called Charles King, and Gianino were able to save the dog from the canal. The police department shared a video on Facebook showing the rescuing process. However, the family decided to fortify their fence to prevent the dog from leaving their backyard again. Watch the video below.
