The Fateful Night
- The Derailment:
At around 3:40 a.m., the Millat Express derailed between the Raiti and Daharki stations near Ghotki, spilling coaches onto the opposing track.
- The Second Impact:
Minutes later, before sleeping passengers could escape or a warning signal could be raised, the oncoming Sir Syed Express plowed at full speed into the wreckage.
- The Aftermath:
Over 1,100 people were on board both trains. Heavy machinery took days to cut through mangled metal, ultimately raising the death toll to 65 and injuring scores of others.
