A TikTok user has gone viral after documenting the unexpected aftermath of his hair transplant, jokingly comparing his swollen appearance to that of "an alien.”
Kanah Flex, a dancer and artist, took to TikTok to share his experience with the procedure, quickly gaining attention for his candid and humorous take. Right off the bat, he clarified that he didn’t go overseas for the surgery.
"For anyone wondering, no, I didn’t go to Turkey for this,” Kanah said. "I got the procedure right here in Wembley, Kenton, Harrow, to be exact.”
Kanah explained that his day started with an early consultation at around 8:30 a.m. After signing a consent form and speaking with the surgeon, they decided to focus on the crown of his head.
"My hairline was actually fine,” he said. "It was mainly the crown area and donor site that needed attention.”
Hair follicles were extracted from the back of his head—known as the donor area—and transplanted to the targeted region.
"I had 4,000 grafts done, which equals about 8,000 hairs implanted,” Kanah noted, adding that addressing his hairline would have required even more grafts.
Before the procedure began, multiple anesthetic injections were administered to numb his scalp. "I could feel my head swelling, almost like a balloon. Eventually, I couldn’t feel anything,” he recalled.
The post-surgery swelling left Kanah with a visibly enlarged head, a side effect he addressed openly. Comparing himself to Will Ferrell’s Megamind character, Kanah took the comments in stride.
But is the swelling something to worry about?
According to Dr. Emrah Cinik, a well-known hair transplant specialist based in Turkey, swelling is a common reaction and generally not a cause for concern.
"Dr. Cinik’s website explains that surgical procedures, including hair transplants, can result in tissue damage that triggers inflammation, leading to fluid buildup and swelling that may even spread to the face.”
He added that anesthetics and solutions used during the procedure can also contribute to the puffiness, which usually resolves within a few days.
Kanah recently reassured followers that the swelling has already started to go down.
"Trust the process,” he encouraged, offering reassurance to anyone thinking about undergoing the procedure.
Through his honesty and sense of humor, Kanah has turned a personal cosmetic journey into an online sensation, reminding viewers that even hair transformations come with a few laughs along the way.
