Heartbroken Shelter Dog Shuts Down When Her Best Friend Gets Adopted Without Her

Month the rescuers, from Stillwater Animal Welfare (SAW) managed to catch two dogs that were spotted running around the streets of Oklahoma City.

It's not unusual for the welfare workers at SAW to rescue dogs simultaneously. They are accustomed to witnessing rescued street pups form a strong bond and become self sufficient.

The staff quickly noticed a connection between these two dogs in this case.

"They must have traveled quite a distance " mentioned Ashlie Jerkes, an animal caregiver at SAW ". They always stuck together."

The team warmly welcomed them. Named them Bonnie and Clyde. They remained inseparable in the shelter.

"They spent their hold period together in the kennel, where they seemed very close " Jerkes shared with me recently.

After resting and receiving care together for three days despite their battle, with heartworms, Bonnie and Clyde recovered sufficiently to be put up for adoption.

When temporarily separated on the adoption floor these best friends were overjoyed to reunite with each other.

"Whenever we let them out into the yard they would run around together " Jerkes described during that time.

Bonnie found herself alone at the shelter after Clyde was adopted by a kind family.

Feeling devastated she missed her friend. Started to lose hope that her happily ever after would ever come true.

One day a welfare worker took a photo of Bonnie lying on her cot. Shared it on the shelters social media page in hopes of finding her a home.

In a Facebook post the worker mentioned, "Bonnie is all alone now that her brother has been adopted and she truly misses having a sibling to cuddle with."

Luckily their goal was achieved sooner than expected.

"That post went up on Friday and someone came in thing Monday to adopt her " Jerkes explained.

Bonnie has finally found her home. Couldn't be happier.

"Shes getting comfortable!" remarked Brayden Routh, Bonnies mother, on Facebook. "Shes going to have a life filled with adventures with her sister who is a blue heeler mix."

Even though Bonnie was adopted days ago her new family already loves her as if she had been, with them forever.

Bonnie will forever cherish the memories she shared with her brother Clyde. She eagerly anticipates the adventures that await her in the future.
