Mary’s family, who are from the US, were volunteering at an animal shelter that takes care for more than 4000 dogs in Ankara, Turkey.
The shelters become underfunded and overcrowded in Turkey as dogs are rarely euthanized there. They take many dogs in, most of them are sick and some of them are not able to be treated.
A group of sick dogs that recently saved were suffering from distemper that causes loss of coordination and seizures, and affects the spinal cord and brain in its later stages.
Faith, the first dog Mary’s family saved, was not able to walk when she was sick but with care and love she was completely healed and she went to a forever home in the US.
