A boy returns from school upset after receiving a zero on a geography test.
"The teacher gave me a zero because I couldn’t answer a question about Portugal,” he explained.
"What was the question?” his mother asked.
"Where Portugal is.”
"That ridiculous teacher—I’m going to call the principal’s office. First, let’s find Portugal ourselves.”
She pulls out a map of their state but can’t find Portugal. She tries a regional map and still can’t find it. Finally, she unfolds a city map and Portugal is nowhere to be seen.
"I’m sure Portugal must be close by,” she said. "Our maid is from Portugal, and she rides her bicycle here to work every day.”
