Guy Notices A Sea Turtle Unable to Swim Due To Overgrown Barnacles

Barnacles are a type of crustacean known for their properties. They tend to attach themselves to surfaces, like rocks and ships. Sometimes though these marine creatures can also cling to the shells of sea turtles.

While a single barnacle might not harm a turtle and often goes unnoticed an excessive number of barnacles can lead to issues. Luckily there's a man named Chika Boy in Sri Lanka who is dedicated to helping his sea turtles by removing these barnacles.

In a shared YouTube video Chika Boy shares his experiences assisting a turtle covered in barnacles. Although the turtle may not appear distressed these tiny crustaceans can potentially cause infections make feeding challenging and even impair the turtles vision.

Chika Boy explains how the accumulation of barnacles can hinder the turtles movement and swimming abilities. The added weight on its shell makes it slower than usual. Hampers its ability to search for food effectively.

Moreover if the barnacles are near the turtles eyes it can have effects on its vision. Additionally when barnacles latch onto the turtles mouth area they become particularly harmful as they interfere with eating habits due, to their presence.

Chika Boy carefully uses a knife to remove each barnacle from the sea turtle. Some barnacles are easier to remove than others. With determination he successfully removes every one. Afterwards Chika Boy gently releases the turtle back, onto the shore watching it happily scurry towards the ocean.

In another video of a nature Chika Boy rescues a sea turtle caught in a fishing net and painstakingly removes all of its barnacles. Thanks to this nature enthusiast these vulnerable sea creatures have found themselves a dedicated protector.
