Lion Says Heartwarming Goodbye To His Rescuer After 20 Years Together

This story speaks about a beloved Colombian lion called Jupiter, who became very known while living at an animal refuge called Refúgio Villa Lorena.

A caretaker called Ana Julia Torres, who takes care of an ostrich, a speckled bear, a crocodile, jaguars, hundreds of colored birds, spider monkeys, 9 Bengal tigers, 4 lions, and a chimpanzee, said that all of these animals have been abused!

Among more than 800, Jupiter was her favorite, said Ana. Before being rescued from the circus, Jupiter had his claws removed, and he was abused!

So, spending a bad time with humans made him lose trust in them, but when Ana started taking care of him, everything changed!

Ana Julia Torres cares for hundreds of abused animals at a refuge in Cali, Colombia, including this lion named Jupiter. Many of the animals were previously owned by drug traffickers who have been arrested.

But when Jupiter was completely healthy, officials decided to transfer him to Los Caimanes Zoo in Monteria, as she did not have enough documentation to keep him.

But unfortunately, he became very ill at the zoo, and lost a lot of weight. So, he was then moved to Cali Zoo to receive treatment, but his liver cancer was stronger than his strength! Fortunately for him, he was able to see Ana one last time before he died in 2020. The reunion was tearful! How heartbreaking!
