Zoo Employees Celebrates The Birth Of Endangered Eastern Black Rhino

A critically endangered black rhino was recently born at the Kansas City Zoo, on New Year’s Eve. The baby, that was born to an eastern black rhinoceros called Zuri, is doing well as it is playing spar, nursing, and walking with its mama.

According to the spokesperson of the zoo, Zuri has been attentive and patient first-time mama. The newborn's father, Ruka, and its mama, Zuri, arrived in April 2018 to the zoo, according to KCTV.

To improve the bond between the calf and its mama, the barn is being kept quiet with limited human interaction. The overall health and gender are yet to be confirmed, and they need a few weeks after an examination. It is a vital boost to this endangered species despite being too small.
