Stray Dog Remains Motionless While Rescuers Free Him From His Dirt Armor

When Valia, from The Orphan Pet laid eyes on the dog in person he looked even worse than his photo. Hidden beneath layers of dirt and filthy fur there was a dog.

He had been living with a woman who passed away and unfortunately when her apartment was cleared out the dog was left abandoned on the sidewalk. It's unclear how long he went without care—was it months or even years?

Valia received a text seeking help for this dog. Responded promptly. The most heart wrenching aspect as Valia observed upon seeing him was that it was difficult to feel anything than disgust. The putrid mass lying on the sidewalk remained motionless and silent; however a small tongue peeked out to lick her hand when she placed water in front of him.

She took the dog home with her and named him "Julian " then immediately brought him to the vet for care. Enough Julian remained calm throughout all of it— unmoving. Somewhere underneath all that mess lies a canine companion.

Incredibly Julian allowed them to shave off his coat without needing anesthesia. For four hours straight he stayed still. Quiet while they rid him of his "armor" made of dirt.

As it turns out Julian is actually a poodle—a chap, with a heart condition who's partially deaf and partially blind.

He's not exactly the behaved dog out there but Valia is perfectly fine, with that. She mentions, "Not every dog can have a fairytale ending. Some rescues don't get a ever after."

She also observes, "Julian may not be the top notch dog in the world.. He's the version of himself that has ever existed.". That's okay she adds, "It's perfectly alright for him to just be himself." He's wonderfully imperfect.

Currently Julian is under the care of Save a Greek Stray. Valia shares, "As of now Julian is still searching for a home. Most people are hesitant due to his personality and his age well, as his heart condition."
