I have some news to share about a story we talked about week; Peaches, the dog who was mistreated and neglected has sadly passed away while under the care of a shelter, in North Carolina.
Today Brother Wolf Animal Rescue shared an update on their Facebook page. They expressed their sadness stating that Peaches peacefully passed away in her sleep night. Despite the efforts of the team her body couldn't hold on any longer. They acknowledged that everyones grief over this loss will be as heavy as theirs as they all wished for Peaches to have a life filled with love and happiness.
Peaches touched hearts across the country when her story went viral this month. The shelter initially shared her story on November 6th. Were profoundly shocked and saddened by the circumstances she had endured.
According to FOX Carolina Peaches was rescued from an environment where she suffered from neglect and abuse. When she arrived at Brother Wolf Animal Rescue she had infected skin and significant fur loss.
"The poor pup endured neglect, throughout her life " stated the shelter. "For four months she never experienced love or care. She lacked cozy blankets, proper vet attention and regular meals. It's truly heartbreaking."
They did everything in their power to give Peaches another chance. It was a battle. The poor dog had conditions including mild hypothermia, a slight cough, Demodex mange and Coccidia, a staph infection, mild anemia and an elevated white blood cell count.
Peaches was placed in a home. The shelter requested people to send messages of encouragement, for her recovery. Many hearted individuals responded with comforting words.
However despite the love and care she received during her days the effects of neglect were too overwhelming to overcome. Although Peaches is no longer with us she will always be remembered.
"We alleviated her pain showered her with affection and in return she showed us love " Brother Wolf Animal Rescue shared today. "We caught glimpses of what could have been – playing with toys giving kisses – revealing her personality."
"Rest peacefully now Peaches. You will forever remain in our hearts."
What a saddening update – may sweet Peaches rest, in peace. We extend our gratitude to everyone who made an effort to save her and filled her days with love after enduring neglect.
